Cole, the main character, is just an ordinary boy looking to hang out with his friends on Halloween. Cole hears about an awesome haunted house and decides to check it out with his friends. Something goes very wrong in the haunted house and Cole finds himself on an unexpected adventure in the Outskirts trying to rescue his friends. Read the book to find out how he ends up in this strange mystical place and meets unusual creatures. I would love to hear what you think of this. Book number two is expected to be out soon!

Wendy Mass is a popular author who is coauthoring Space Taxi Archie Takes Flight with her husband Michael Brawer. I was shocked to find this in the new section of the county library because Mr. Brawer was my son, Tim's, English teacher in 9th grade! He left our school and I guess joined his wife writing! This book is the first in a planned series. Book 2 is scheduled to come out next month.
Second and third graders will enjoy this crazy space adventure! In the book, Archie can't wait to go to "bring your child to work day" with his dad. Archie's dad drive the midnight shift in a taxi. He can't imagine the fun they will have staying up all night. He soon learns that his dad is not an ordinary taxi driver. The young space traveler helps his dad solve a crime during the night and learns about some of his own special powers. This book will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next! I love how they use some real science facts and mix it up with fantasy. I can't wait to hear what you think!

Third and fourth grade students should read this realistic fiction story. Gavin wonders what makes a real friend. When you are the new kid it is hard to fit in. While I was on my summer vacation in Disney World, I read Charlie Joe's Guide to Summer Vacation. In this book Tommy Greenwald continues his series with book number three. This is a great read for upper elementary and middle school readers to get a laugh. Charlie Joe is a jock going to a brainiac camp for three weeks. He finds himself surrounded by studious campers that study, read, and write letters, but all he wants to do is fool around and have fun. What should he do? Join the studies or get kicked out? I think you will enjoy reading about his antics! Pick the book up at the public library today!
Whether you read the book or not I would love for you to tell me if you have you gone to camp? Tell me about your camp experience. Was it a day camp or sleep away camp? What kind of activities were offered? Do you have a favorite? Anyone willing to share about a time when you found yourself in a place where you didn't feel like you belong like Charlie Joe Jackson did? I look forward to reading your responses!

Most of you Knowlton Knights know I am a reading fanatic! When you are a student of mine I always want to know what you are reading. The 3rd-6th grade teachers are requiring that you always have a free choice reading book with you in all of your classes. So here is a place I have created for you to tell me what you are reading! I want to know the good and the bad. Do you like what you are reading or not? What makes you want to keep reading? This will help me know what your interests are and give me ideas for new library books to purchase. It will also help your classmates get ideas of books to check out of the library. I also figure you might want to stop by to see book recommendations I have. Feel free to post a comment and leave your opinion as often as you'd like. Please make sure you are respectful with your comments.
